Local Shops

I live in North East Indiana.  Over the last couple years I have found local places to buy produce, meat, honey, syrup and bulk foods.  If you are also in the area here are some resources for you too!

Organic Meat and Produce

  • Hawkins Family Farm Store and CSA (Near North Manchester) The farm store has frozen beef, pork and chicken raised on the farm as well as eggs, honey, raw cheese and maple syrup.  You can also participate in the seasonal CSA and join the Hawkin's Family for Pizza on the Farm Fridays during the summer.
  • River Ridge Farm Store (Near Laketon)  The Fingerle family grows amazing produce in high tunnel green houses.  You can purchase from their farm store or find them at the Wabash Farmer's Market
  • Manchester Farmer's Market
  • Wabash Farmer's Market
  • Joy Field Farm (Near North Manchester) Cliff and Arlene have been working their small farm without machines for 30 some years.  Together they sell their produce on the farm and at the Manchester Farmer's Market.

Bulk Food and Co-op Stores

Restaurants with Integrity

  • Kenapocomocha Coffee Shop (North Manchester) $ Wonderful little cafe tucked into an old Victorian house. They feature local meat and produce for breakfast and lunch.  You will also find fresh baked goods including gluten-free options.  On Tuesday nights they are open late for a pizza night.
  • Cerulean (Winona Lake) $$$ Features locally raised meat and produce. In the summer on the weekends they also have a garden area with its own menu and often live music
  • Catabalu (Ft. Wayne) $$$
  • Joseph Decuis (Roanoake) $$$$ Super fancy French restaurant that also has a farm and produces their own meats as well as buys from local farmers.  They do have a less expensive Emporium with sandwich and soup type fair that is open for lunch.

Do you know a place I don't know about?  Let me know!
